Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) is an evidence-based approach to treating chronic conditions such as diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and chronic kidney disease through the use of an individually-tailored nutrition plan. Not only does MNT improve outcomes, it can also significantly reduce the costs of medications and hospitalizations. An RDN can help you make sense of nutrition claims that sound too good to be true and help guide you towards using food and nutrition to improve your health and wellness. A primary goal is to improve your relationship with food, where food can be viewed as a source of pleasure and joy, no matter what dietary restrictions you may be faced with.
For questions or to schedule an appointment with our RDN, please call 620-241-2251, ext 179.
"Every 60 seconds, 11 patients go undiagnosed with malnutrition. Malnutrition has a negative impact on patient outcomes – higher infection rates, poor wound healing, longer lengths of stay, higher frequency of readmission, and increased costs." (AHRQ, 2018). September 18 - 22 is Malnutrition Awareness Week. If you or someone you know is experiencing malnutrition, click the link below to see a list of available food resources in McPherson.
