McPherson, KS – For the 17th year in a row, employees at Lowe’s in Hutchinson came together to spread holiday cheer through their annual employee toy drive. For the past several years, McPherson Center for Health has been honored to be the recipient of these generous donations, helping bring comfort and joy to children and families during hospital visits.
Lowe’s team members delivered this year’s donations, arriving with a massive box filled with toys, along with Lowe’s soccer balls added to the collection. The toys will be distributed throughout McPherson Center for Health to children receiving care in areas such as the Emergency Room, Lab, Radiology, Inpatient units, and Obstetrics, including children visiting family members or welcoming new siblings.
Hospital staff shared how meaningful these toys can be in real moments of care, from giving a child a stuffed animal for comfort while stitches are being removed to helping distract and calm nerves during procedures. A local mom in the community also shared how special it was for her daughter to receive a toy during an ER visit, saying it made a stressful experience feel a little less scary.
Each year, the toy drive continues to grow, both in size and impact, reaching more children and families across the hospital.
“It’s incredibly special to see a neighboring community choose McPherson Center for Health as the recipient of this drive year after year,” said Dara Reese, Chief Nursing Officer at McPherson Center for Health. “These toys bring smiles, comfort, and reassurance to kids and families when they need it most.”
McPherson Center for Health extends its sincere thanks to the Lowe’s Hutchinson team for their generosity, dedication, and continued support of patients and families throughout the region.
