Current Projects and Funds
AED Fund
Aid and purchase of AED machines to be placed throughout McPherson County.
Anderson Memorial Cafeteria Fund
The fund shall provide support for the enhancement of services and facilities of McPherson Hospital’s cafeteria.
Wilma Jean Cash Patient Room
The fund shall provide an enhanced environment and maintenance for inpatient rooms at McPherson Hospital.
The Travis J. Hedlund Athletic Activity Fund
Funds shall provide financial aid to McPherson High School and McPherson Middle School activity departments for students in grades 7-12 participating in MHS & MMS athletic activities. Funds shall be specifically designated to the purchase of required equipment for participation that is not supplied by sponsoring schools.
Candice & Candence Goebel Fund
Funds are to provide assistance with medical procedures for the underinsured and uninsured individuals diagnosed with Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome. Qualified individuals must be Kansas residents.
McPherson Healthcare Endowment Fund
Funds are used to enhance healthcare programs and projects for McPherson County residents and assist McPherson Hospital with capital and equipment needs.
Warren Albert McVey Fund
The fund shall provide support to upgrade and maintain McPherson Hospital Campus grounds.
The Radiology Fund
Funds are to provide financial assistance to the McPherson Hospital Radiology Department.
Gallery of Honor Surgery Waiting Area
The Fund shall provide assistance with the overall customer service and medical care provided by McPherson Hospital to the following: patients, family members or friends of patients in the care of McPherson Hospital; physicians and medical professionals granting medical care at McPherson Hospital; and acknowledgements of the past and future financial contributors for the welfare and improvements at McPherson Hospital.
The James A. & Marcella M. Tobin Room
Funds are to provide temporary residence for: family members of patients in the care of McPherson Hospital; medical students of Kansas University School of Medicine Rural Education Site; or visiting medical staff priding professional services to McPherson Hospital.
Mark & Melissa Tipton Hope Fund
The fund shall provide transportation assistance to medical facilities for treatment and/or stabilization of patient health conditions. Qualified individuals must be McPherson County residents.
Larry Wallace Nursing Scholarship
The fund shall provide support to a second-year students of an Associate Degree or third year student of a Bachelor of Science Degree dedicated to achieving completion of Registered Nursing (RN) certification.

History
The McPherson Healthcare Foundation, Inc. was formed and chartered in October of 1986 as a 501c(3) organization. Its purpose is to secure and expend financial aid for the operations, maintenance and expansion of the health facilities and services associated with McPherson Hospital, and to otherwise contribute to the development of improved health care in McPherson County.

McPherson Healthcare Foundation is committed to secure, manage and allocate funds for the enhancement of healthcare programs and projects for the residents of McPherson County.
Statement of Purpose
The purposes for which the McPherson Healthcare Foundation is organized are charitable, educational and scientific. The Foundation shall secure, manage and allocate funds for the enhancement of facilities and services provided by McPherson Hospital in McPherson, Kansas and to contribute to, implement and develop projects and programs dedicated to the promotion of comprehensive and safe healthcare system for McPherson County. The Foundation shall have such general purposes and powers as are set forth in its Articles of Incorporation and as are consistent with its charitable, educational and scientific objectives.
McPherson Hospital is critical not only to maintaining the health and well-being of our citizens, but modern healthcare facilities provide essential infrastructure to secure business and industry.
The dedicated donors of the McPherson Healthcare Foundation have made an impact on both large capital projects and smaller renovation and equipment needs.
January of 2019 – Completion of the $5.0 million Caring for the Future campaign to build a Medical Office Building on the Hospital Campus. The Medical Office building housed all the clinic physicians, surgeons, mid-level providers and all the support staff.
September of 2022 – Completion of the Champions for Growth campaign, raising $1.8 million to fund three projects on the hospital campus, including a permanent MRI in a specially built, dedicated space, construction of a Women’s Imaging and Diagnostic Center on the second floor of the hospital, and the relocation of the Hess Fitness Center to a larger, renovated space near Rehabilitation Services to improve patient access to facilities.
Renovations and upgrades in multiple departments to improve patient care:
- 2018 – Women’s Care and Birth Center
- 2020 – Intensive Care Flooring
- 2022 – Medical/Surgical Flooring
- 2022 – Purchased 17 new beds for patient care areas
- 2023 – Surgery Waiting Room
- 2024 – Emergency Room Waiting Room
The McPherson Healthcare Foundation holds two large fundraising events each year. The Foundation Golf Tournament is held each May at the McPherson Country Club, and the Fall Auction is in October. Both events have a rich tradition with the Auction starting in 1992 and the Golf Tournament in 1998. See the events page for more information.
