McPherson, KS – November 25, 2024 – McPherson Center for Health is pleased to announce an exciting expansion of services through the McPherson Health Department’s Title X Family Planning program, offering patients access to additional contraceptive options, including Nexplanon and IUDs (Intrauterine Devices), through a new collaboration with our Rural Health Clinic providers.
As part of the Health Department’s ongoing commitment to improving reproductive health and access to affordable care, McPherson Center for Health is responding to growing patient interest in Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) methods. With more individuals seeking hormonal implants like Nexplanon and IUDs, we recognize a significant gap in the availability of these services locally—especially for individuals who need access to affordable, sliding-fee scale healthcare options.
Through the Health Department’s Title X Family Planning program, we have the unique ability to provide these services to individuals who are uninsured, underinsured, or seeking confidential care. The Family Planning program offers a comprehensive suite of services, including annual well-woman exams, pap smears, STI screenings, and a variety of birth control methods. Thanks to grant funding and the Health Department’s 340B status, we can offer these services at reduced costs—ensuring that individuals with limited income or without insurance can access the care they need without financial barriers.
Partnership with Local Providers for LARC Services
To further meet the needs of our patients, McPherson Center for Health and the Health Department are partnering with our Rural Health Clinic providers to offer the placement and removal of Nexplanon and IUDs.
Through this new collaboration, McPherson Center for Health enters a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Health Department to provide LARC services, including placement and removal of Nexplanon and IUDs, at no upfront cost to our clinic. The Health Department will supply the devices directly to our Rural Health Clinic, eliminating the need for us to place any orders or handle device costs.
